Locally, Alabama decoupled from federal amortization rules, allowing corporate taxpayers to immediately deduct research and experimental expenditures for state purposes. Additionally, the Innovate Alabama Tax Credit rewards taxpayers who contribute to approved Economic Development Organizations with a credit offsetting up to fifty percent of their state tax liability.
