North Dakota Patent of the Month – November 2023
While many weightlifters and gym-goers prefer to work out in the comfort of their home, most don’t have the space needed for a home gym. With the square footage needed to fit a squat rack or a bench, it’s unrealistic to get all the equipment that one needs for a full body routine. PRx Performance, LLC designs workout equipment that makes an at-home gym possible in even the most cramped of spaces.
A recent patent for a retractable wall mountable and inclinable bench system showcases a design which allows it to retract neatly against the wall when not in use, addressing the space constraints that conventional weightlifting benches often pose. This unique feature makes it an ideal fit for smaller gyms or home setups where space-saving solutions are critical.
The bench offers a range of selectable positions, allowing users to perform a variety of exercises comfortably and effectively. In its extended state, the bench presents a horizontal setup for classic bench presses. When inclined, the bench offers support during shoulder presses or supported reverse flys.
The inclusion of an intelligent latching system enables users to securely lock the bench in different positions, ensuring safety during workouts. The bench’s smart design allows the torso and seat portions to move together, transitioning seamlessly between positions while maintaining stability.
PRx Performance’s inclinable bench is not just a piece of workout equipment; it’s a testament to how innovation can transform even the simplest of gym essentials. This inventive system has redefined the dynamics of exercising, not just by its physical form but by reimagining the user’s workout experience.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
